In a small town in Chile – three hours south of the capital of Santiago – a women’s community has set out to perfect the old tradition from their region, to refine their techniques and to incorporate them into new designs. Wonderfully fine jewelry and feather-light three-dimensional figures emerge.
The ponytail hair is bleached, dyed, woven and braided in fine handwork. Feather-light, filigree and colorful natural jewelry and diverse shapes are created. Jewelry and delicate figures grow from the delicate fingers of the artisans.
Awarded a seal of approval by the UNESCO, this handicraft is unique in the world.
